Amiga have
always been lucky with good platformers and this James Pond 2 - Robocod
here is among the better ones. On amiga there are a total of 3 (4) James
Pond games and the fourth one is Aquatic Games. Robocod is the best iand
most enhanced in the trilogy and contains 50 Hz scrolling 8 ways on
large levels. The CD32 version is partially enhanced for AGA, have and
intro and the complete original kick-ass soundtrack remixed to CD Audio.
The music is awesome and is made by the famous Amiga composer Richard
Joseph. He rarely dissepoints when he makes music. Anyway the looks like
a standard platformer, but is not because you can reach at the top of
the screen while still stanting at the bottom. Your body stretches so it
looks like a long cylinder with fish head and legs. Yes, James Pond is a
fish. You can also use different vehicles like cars and planes and the
whole is so good designed that it works extremly good. There is
background gfx everywhere and the whole game looks smooth. It's very
fast when you run and you can also jump of course. There is lots of
bonus stuff to collect to increase the score. The game is very huge and
some of the bosses are very hard to kill and i know, because i have
played through the whole game on A500 in ~1992. |
